In an era defined by rapid digital evolution, U.S. states are ramping up their efforts to protect citizens’ personal information. In 2023, data privacy laws in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah took effect, and many other states passed similar legislation for implementation over the next few years. Starting in 2024, companies will be required to comply with new state-level data privacy laws in Florida, Texas, Oregon, and Montana. This legal update discusses these new data privacy laws poised to take effect in 2024 and identifies the “highest standards” for key data privacy compliance requirements.
